I am so excited!

Yesterday morning Bradley came and got me out of bed and wanted to know if they do this every year. I had no idea what he was talking about, He said give us a new garbage can. I was so confused so I went outside to look. This is what I found.

This is our new recycleables garbage can. I am so excited to be able to recycle right at my own house. We have been recycling at work for a while now and when I found out that Bountiful city was going to start a recycling program I couldn't wait. I thought that we wouldnt get it until January so it was a bit of a suprise to find it outside already. Pick up only comes every other week and I am sure with all the paper we go through at this house that it will be overflowing. I am also excited to get to teach Bradley and Katie what can be reused and what cant. Now I can feel as if I am doing my little part to help mother nature.

So, you put everything that is recyclable in to that can? I have never heard of this.

Everywhere I have lived that recylces has separate crates. That is awesome!

You dont have to seperate anything all the paper and plastics can just go in the can!

Isn't it wonderful. They do that here in Erie to. We have reduced our actual garbage to 1 and a half garbage bags per week! So we only set out our garbage every other week with 3 bags. Then we do our recyclables the other week. It took us a good month to get used to the habit of seperating and sorting and figuring out what I could and couldn't recycle but it really has become second nature now. Technically they say we don't even have to seperate it but we do just because I feel like it saves somebody else on a line somewhere some relief.

I think as a whole people would really get into recycling if every city would try to coordinate through the garbage pickup. I would even venture to say that people would be willing to pay a small fee each month for it, if it would at least be offered.

I have been using my own shopping bags now for about a year and I think it really does take starting one small thing at a time and eventually you start reducing your impact in a big way. Okay I am a total recycle, save the planet kind of girl so I get a little giddy about this subject!!!

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

It is only costing us 3.05 a month, even I can handle that.

I bought some of my own grocery bags a week or so ago, and so far I have never remembered to take them in the store with me. :-{

It takes awhile to remember to bring the dang bags in. I admit that is the hardest part. I make myself keep them in my trunk and as soon as we unload groceries they go right back in the trunk. Otherwise I KNOW I will forget them!!

Now if the eco friendly cleaning products and paper products would just come down in price so I would be willing to buy them and if I could just afford a hybrid, I would really be in business!!

We have had those here in San Diego for over 9 years now. They are wonderful. We hardly ever have much trash. I throw anything in the I can and let the recycle company decide if it can truly be recylced. (what I mean by that is that anything with the recycle logo on it, I throw in there as well as paper, cardboard, etc..) some of the wrappers that say they are recyclabe I guess are not because we don't have the resources for those numbered 3 and above. How stupid is that.

I am kind of crazy when it comes to recycle. I bring everything home from work that is recyclable and throw it in my bin at home as downtown hasn't quite gotten the bins as of yet.

We also use our own canvas bags to shop. In fact one city here in San Diego has banned the stores to use plastic bags.

We have had those recycling cans for years here in Sandy, and they come every week the same day as the garbage truck. I mostly just do cardboard, plastic containers, and phone books. The phone books don't even make it in my house anymore. I find them on the driveway and straight into recycling they go. Who uses phone books anymore? I look everything up online. Our plastic bags go to the school and Walmart pays our school for them.

Lol.. at first I was a little worried Jess. When I read the Title "I am so excited" and then saw a picture of a garbage can I thought you were excited for a new one. Random! But then I found out it was to recycling with. Thats awesome. We don't get them because we just have the one big garbage bin for our apartments. So cool! We really need to get one for work. When I was managing I couldn't believe how much paper we went through!

This is for Jen. You can recycle in Kaysville. Mountain West Recycling 901 627-3056. It is $20/month and picked up every other week. Totally worth it.

Hi Jess! It was so great to hear from you! I love to be stalked on the internet! I wonder on a regular basis how You and Abbie and all the old friends are. I haven't heard from anyone for such a long time. I was actually just thinking of you and your family because they are building a new Mavrik on the corner of were you turn to go to my house out in Hurricane, and I was wondering if your dad was still working for them. Any way your family is so cute. Those kids of yours are a prefect blend of you and Kaylen. I would love to catch up and to hear from Abbie too. Email me sometime soon so we can talk a little more!
